Jorge Panchoaga (Colombia)

Anthropologist and photographer. Jorge develops works related to issues of identity, memory and the relationships of the human being with his environment. He is interested in the construction of networks and knowledge that promote and empower photography and photographers at a local and regional level. He is also interested in the development of narration in various platforms, exhibitions, interventions, books or digital platforms.

His work is part of collections such as the Swiss cultural fund in Colombia, the international photography collection of Higashikawa Japan and various private collections in different countries. It has been published in the New York Times, National Geographic, El País in Spain, L'oeil de la Photographie in France, GUP Magazine in Holland, Page 99 in Italy, Süddeutsche Zeitun in Germany, Lightbox in Portugal, Malpensante de Colombia, among others. He has made solo exhibitions in Spain, Argentina, Chile and Colombia and has participated in group exhibitions in Guatemala, Ireland, Lithuania, Ecuador, France, Brazil, the United States, Germany, and other countries.

Among his recognitions are: winner of the Emerging Talent Award 2016 of Lens Culture; winner of the SMArt Sustainable Mountain photographic creation grant in Switzerland; winner of the second prize of the POYLatam category Our Look; grant for the creation of artists with an intermediate trajectory of the Ministry of Culture; winner of a collaborative artistic entrepreneurship grant, district stimulus program; co-production grant for cross and transmedia projects of the MINTIC; winner of the Ibero-American Photography Award NEXOFOTO, Spain; the 9th National Colombo Swiss Photography Prize of the Ministry of Culture, of the Sixth Young Art Salon of Club el Nogal, the 3rd National Prize of Photography of the Cultural Heritage of the Nation.

He has been editor of the book La Fotografía está en la Calle (2014); co-author of Fiestas de San Pacho (2014), author of Savage (2018) and Dulce y Salada (2018). He is the founder of CROMA Taller Visual and part of the +1 collective. He is the representative photographer of Fujifilm
